History

BME was officially established in 1984, at that time named as Mechanical Eng. Department with the decree of establishment No.612/FT.17/I.01.12/1984 dated on 1 July 1984, signed by Dr. Ida Bagus Oka (Rector University of Udayana). The educational activity was started on 1 August 1984. Department of Mechanical Engineering was then allowed to operate based on Decree of Directorate Higher Education No. 64/Dikti/1988 dated on 1 November 1988. The BME graduated student for first time at 1990. Currently BME is organized by a Coordinator of BME as stated in Statuta University of UdayanaBME conducted quality assurance program under supervision by LP3M (Institution for Educational and Quality Assurance Development) University of Udayana. BME is accredited at rating A by Indonesia National Accreditation Board since 2011 with SK BAN-PT No. 027/BAN-PT/Ak-XIV/S1/IX/2011, and continued at same rating at 2016 based on SK BAN-PT No. 0844/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VI/2016. BME got Provisional Accreditation from Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE) on 27 March 2020. IABEE was established under supervision by JABEE (Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education). JABEE is a signatory member of Washington Accord. Currently IABEE is a Provisional Signatory Member of the Washington Accord. As part of continuous improvement BME  will apply for the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) certification.

Program Studi Sarjana Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik Universitas Udayana sampai saat ini sudah 3 kali memperoleh akreditasi A dengan keterangan sebagai berikut:

1)      Akreditasi A yang pertama dengan masa berlaku mulai dari 29 September 2011 sampai 29 September 2016 sesuai SK Ban PT No. 027/BAN-PT/Ak-XIV/S1/IX.

2)      Akreditasi A yang kedua dengan masa berlaku mulai dari 10 Juni 2016 sampai 10 Juni 2021sesuai SK Ban PT No. 0844/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VI/2016

3)      Akreditasi A yang ketiga dengan masa berlaku mulai dari 11 Juni 2021 sampai 11 Juni 2026 sesuai SK Ban PT No. 8666/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PPJ/S/VI/2021
