“Metallurgy Laboratory”


The Metallurgy Laboratory is one of the many laboratories located at PS. Mechanical Engineering (PSTM), Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. The Metallurgy Laboratory has a function as a material testing vessel in supporting the Tridharma of Higher Education which includes Education & Teaching, Research, and Community Service. The Metallurgy Laboratory becomes a medium for lecturers (teachers, researchers, industry practitioners), educational staff (Tendik), and students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, who collaborate with each other in producing joint works. These works can be in the form of Final Project / Thesis / Dissertation, Scientific Publications, Appropriate Technology, Technology Innovations, or solutions to industrial engineering problems.

Vision: To become a trusted and quality laboratory that is recognized by the public, in the field of Mechanical Engineering, especially Metallurgy, and has a noble character that is able to compete at the national and international levels.

Missiom: The mission of the Metallurgical Laboratory includes aspects of Education and Teaching, Research, and Community Service (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi):

 1.   Organizing education and teaching in the field of Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering.

2.   Carrying out research that can contribute to the development of science and technology, both mono-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary.

3.   Organizing community service activities that are beneficial for the welfare of society.

4.   Improve good relations with the industrial world in order to create sustainable links and matches through consulting services in identifying and analyzing metallurgical-based engineering problems to produce tested alternative solutions.

5.   Take an active role in the development of quality science and technology based on Metallurgy in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

6.   Developing networks in research with industrial partners, research institutes, national or international universities based on Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy.

7.   Produce the latest scientific research that leads to exploration of new knowledge and perspectives on Mechanical Engineering and Materials Metallurgy which lead to publications with high reputation and index.

Value: The values ??that the Metallurgy Laboratory intends to impart are:1.   Ethics and Integrity; always adhere to the norms and regulations that apply in religion, society and the state in social life, as a state, and in carrying out their profession.

2.   Creativity and Innovation; always looking for new ideas to produce innovations in the development of quality science and technology based on Metallurgy in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

3.   Excellence (Excellence); strive for maximum to achieve perfect results in the development of quality science and technology based on Metallurgy in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

4.   Strong leadership (Strong Leadership); demonstrate behavior that is visionary, creative, innovative, hardworking, daring to make structured, responsible and measurable changes.

5.   Synergy (Synergy); work together to be able to make the most of their potential.

6.   Social Togetherness and Social Responsibility (Socio-cohesiveness and Social Responsibility); maintain harmony and care for the surrounding community.

The metallurgical lab provides many test tools and equipment, namely;

 

1.    Universal Tension Machine (UTM) with a capacity of 50 tons

2.   Universal Tension machine (UTM) with a capacity of 50 kN

3.   Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) max. 50.000x, EDS and coating facilities

4.   Micro Vickers digital

5.   Microscope electron, max. 500x

6.   Charpy Impact machine

7.   Hydraulic Rolling machine capacity max diameter 2 in

8.   Multi milling machine

9.   TIG MIG Welding

10.     3D printer dimensions 50 x 50 mm2

11.     Vacuum Injection molding capacity of 1 atm

12.     Hot press molding with a max temperature of 250oC

13.     Min mesh vibrator machine 0.01 and max mash 1.00

Metallurgy Lab activities include Practicum activities and destructive and non-destructive experiments as well as experimentation on student assignments at the undergraduate (S1) and postgraduate levels (S2 and S3).
