Material Analysis Laboratory data

“Material Analysis Laboratory”

The Material Analysis Laboratory was formed in early 2014 which is located in the DD building. Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Udayana University. The purpose of establishing a material analysis laboratory is to support the research of students and lecturers in the Mechanical Engineering environment in particular and outside Mechanical Engineering and to serve the needs of the community. The process of analyzing or characterizing a material is very important before carrying out further testing of the material. The Udayana Material Analysis Laboratory provides services in the form of borrowing and testing material samples. Characterization of materials or materials aims to determine the physical properties and composition of the elements / compounds. In the Material Analysis Laboratory, there are several test equipment used to characterize materials, including:

1.   1. The Ultimate Test Tool (element) which functions to determine the elements of Carbon (C), Hydrogen (H), Oxygen (O), Nitrogen (N), and Sulfur (S) from the material or material.

2. 2.  The Proximate Test Tool or TGA (Thermo Gravimetric Analysis) aims to determine the physical properties of the material, namely, ash (ash content), volatile, fixed carbon, and moisture.

3.  3.  Gas chromatography (GC) is an analytical technique used to separate chemical components from a sample mixture and then detect them to determine their presence or absence and / or how many are present. These chemical components are usually organic molecules or gases.

4.  4. Bomb Calories aims to determine the calorific value of fuel, especially liquid fuel.

5.  5. Gas Analyzer serves to determine the elements contained in fuel gas.

6.  6. Furnace is a kitchen or a tool for heating materials from room temperature to 12000C

Vision and Mission of the Material Analysis Laboratory

 Vision:

 Creating a Material Analysis Laboratory as a superior facility and infrastructure and a national reference in supporting the development of education and science, especially in the field of material or material analysis that is relevant to today's needs.

 Mission:

The missions of the Material Analysis Laboratory are:

1.  1. Provide facilities and infrastructure for research and development of science to produce superior and highly competitive academic work in the fields of education, science and technology;

2.  2. Provide facilities and infrastructure to collaborate with foreign and domestic parties to improve the quality and performance of study programs;

3.  3. To build a laboratory management organization for healthy departments and study programs based on the principles of autonomy, accountability, accreditation and self-evaluation on an ongoing basis
